This Tortellini Bake comes together in minutes and makes for a delicious, minimal effort weeknight meal. When you're short on time, this is the recipe for you.

I buy the tortellini Costco sells that comes as two 1.5 lb packages and store them in the freezer. That way, I always have tortellini to pull out and make this meal when I'm short on time. You can cook from frozen, and it hardly adds any time--maybe one extra minute boiling. This recipe uses one 1.5 lb package of tortelllini

What You'll Need:

  • 1.5 lbs of tortellini
  • 1 jar of your favourite pasta sauce/marinara
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 package of shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional Add Ins

  • 1 onion
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • fresh basil, for serving

Tortellini Pasta Bake

A simple and delicious pasta bake that comes together in minutes- perfect for busy nights when you're short on time.

  • 1.5 lb package of tortellini ((24 oz))
  • 1 jar of your favourite pasta sauce/marinara
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 package of shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional Add Ins

  • 1 onion
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • fresh basil (for serving)
  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Preheat your oven to 375F.
  2. Boil tortellini according to package directions. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta water. Drain the rest.
  3. In an oven safe dish, stir together cooked tortellini and a jar of pasta sauce. Add about half of the reserved pasta water (or more or less to your liking. For a thicker sauce, add less).
  4. Top with shredded mozzarella. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve immediately. It's great served with fresh basil.

*If you choose to add onion or ground meat, heat a medium sized skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil, and cook onions and ground meat until onions are soft and translucent and meat is fully browned. Then stir in a jar of pasta sauce and your freshly boiled tortellini.
